The Ovaltinies were heard again at Borden Parish Hall on Saturday 8th October, we were reminded of such past times as listening to Radio Luxemburg, playing childhood games of pea shooting, exchanges of cigarette cards by flicking them against wall to decide the winners, watching mother doing the family wash using a boiler and mangle. A recording of steam trains on the main line to London brought back happy memories as Mr. Denis Jarrett MBE told us his childhood growing up in Sittingbourne before the Second World War.

Earlier in the evening ,at our AGM, Val Skinner was thanked for her work as Secretary, Elaine Tuck was welcomed to the committee and is our new Secretary, Eileen, John, Keith and Julie were re elected to their previous positions and Val will work on publicity and newsletters. It was a very enjoyable evening and Borden Heritage Group gained three new members. For details of BHG membership and future events please write to the editor.
